Cricut Contributing Artist series: Lori Edwards

Lori Edwards, a multi-talented artist from Texas, takes us into her kaleidoscopic world of digital art. From a childhood adorned with dreams of artistic greatness to earning two art degrees in printmaking and fiber arts, Lori’s journey is a testament to the relentless pursuit of passion. How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program? 

Ah, the pivotal moment of discovery! I made the daring switch from another cutting machine, driven by the desire for a platform that resonated with my artistic vision. Joining the Contributing Artist Program was a no-brainer; it offered the perfect stage to showcase and share the kaleidoscope of designs bubbling within me. 

Where did your artistic journey begin? 

My artistic journey is a tapestry woven with childhood dreams and a passion that refused to be contained. Armed with not one but two art degrees in printmaking and fiber arts, I embarked on a colorful adventure that has shaped who I am as an artist today. 

What does creativity mean to you? 

Creativity, my friends, is more than just a spark—it’s a form of meditation. It’s the rhythmic dance of finding my center and expressing the symphony of colors and ideas that reside within. It’s a dialogue between my soul and the world around me. 

Who or what inspires you to create, and why? 

Prepare to be dazzled by the wellsprings of inspiration! Nature’s palette and the playful charm of stickers fuel my creative fire. The vibrant hues of the natural world and the sheer accessibility of stickers become the raw materials for the visual feasts I cook up. 

What is your favorite type of craft, or what project have you created that you are most proud of? 

Let’s talk crafts! Designing stickers is my absolute favorite—each tells a unique story with a pop of personality. And if I had to choose a close second, it would be crafting whimsical cupcake toppers that bring joy and charm to any celebration. 

Describe your artistic style in one word and give an explanation 

Colorful, quirky, and sassy – my artistic DNA in a nutshell! Every stroke and shade I use screams vibrancy. My designs celebrate happy, quirky elements, often tinged with a dash of sassy, sarcastic charm that keeps things interesting. 

What’s your daily fuel?

I can’t kickstart my day without a hearty dose of iced coffee. The more caffeine, the better – the secret elixir powers my creative engine. 

Tidy or chaos?

Confession time: I lean a bit towards chaos. I pencil in dedicated, tidy time into my schedule to keep my creative space in check. Because, let’s face it, a bit of mess is the birthplace of creativity! 

Home on wheels?

Here’s a twist—I live full-time in a 28′ RV. Yes, you heard it right! Space is a premium, especially for my trusty Maker and the myriad supplies. But hey, where there’s a will (and a passion for crafting), there’s a way.
