Cricut Contributing Artist series: Angele Kamp

5 April 2024

Angele Kamp, a talented artist in the Cricut Contributing Artist Program, often finds inspiration in unexpected places, turning her creativity into a way of life. In this week’s Artist feature, she shares her journey, inspirations, and favorite projects. Let’s delve into the world of Angele’s artistry.

How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program?

Cricut contacted me; I was already designing SVG files on Etsy, they liked my style and knew that Cricut members would like my art. They invited me to join the program shortly after the program launched. This serendipitous connection led to my joining the Contributing Artist Program.

Where did your artistic journey begin?

My artistic journey began as a little girl. I was always drawing and doodling when I was younger, and my mom taught me about the different art materials. It took me a while to get there, and I took some detours, but the stars finally aligned, and my creative business was born. I cannot express how grateful I am to be able to create as a full-time artist.

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity means life. It’s the air I breathe, and I need it to function. Rarely does a day go by without me creating or experimenting with something new. Creativity is my lifestyle. It surrounds me in my home, styling, photography, and even the clothes I wear. It also occurs during long walks in nature and foraging florals and leaves that inspire new artwork.

Who or what inspires you to create, and why?

Nature inspires me deeply to create. I love experimenting with mixed media and learning new skills. Whether it is creating lettering or new designs with my iPad, sketching with pencils, or painting with watercolors, I enjoy it all.

What is your favorite type of craft, or what project have you created that you are most proud of?

Drawing florals and water coloring them is my all-time favorite. I strive to find unique ways to capture their beauty; they never bore me.

Describe your artistic style.

My designs are heavily influenced by nature and botanics, and my style is feminine and delicate with soft, neutral colors. I love the subtle Autumn hues and soft morning glow. I was never really an animal person until I hugged an elephant and looked into its gentle, calm eyes. From that day on, the elephant has become my spirit animal—calm yet steady and at ease with the universe.

Could you share a favorite family tradition?

Our favorite family tradition is to eat birthday cake for breakfast. Why wait till later? It’s a delightful way to celebrate special days, starting the morning with sweetness and joy. Gathering around the table, sharing laughs, and enjoying that first slice together—it’s become a cherished tradition that always brings smiles.

What is something that lights up your world?

My boys make me laugh the most. They crack me up every day with their after-dinner shenanigans. Their innocent humor and playful antics truly light up my world. Their joy is infectious, whether it’s their imaginative storytelling, impromptu dance parties, or hilarious impressions. In their laughter, I find pure happiness and a reminder of the simple pleasures in life.

In the realm of creativity and artistry, Angele Kamp brings a unique perspective inspired by nature’s beauty and everyday moments.
