Roisin’s story: cancer, Cricut and a small business

23 March 2022

We recently discovered Roisin’s story and her incredible resilience and determination to fight cancer and win! We believe her story will resonate with so many people and we’re thrilled that she allowed us to share it with you here.

Roisin is a writer, newspaper columnist, mother and Cancer fighter.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer when pregnant with her daughter Ivy. After initially being given the all-clear, cancer returned three years later and this time she was told it was incurable.

Rosin describes this time as “putting on her fighting pants” and refusing to accept her fate. The thought of leaving her daughter and partner was unbearable and combined with the desire to adopt another child, she found incredible determination and hope.

By 2019, overwhelmed with worry about test results, treatments, the future in general, Roisin set up Fighty Pants, a website offering products personalised with motivational and relatable phrases perfect as gifts for cancer warriors.

From tote bags to mugs to personalised notebooks Roisin’s products pass on positivity and support for those diagnosed with cancer.

Last May, Roisin joined us on a workshop and she loved using her Cricut machine. As personalisation is what our machines are all about, Roisin was able to incorporate personalising her products with her Cricut machine, particularly with her clothing range.

Some of the phrases Roisin has created are: ‘Health is Wealth’, ‘Bad ass cancer kicker’, ‘Wearing my lucky pants’ and more.

Describing her products on her web site, Roisin writes:

“My products are designed with YOU in mind. The people going through it, celebrating it, living it and helping others through the good times and bad.

“When someone is going through a difficult time and you just can’t find the right words, you’ll find them all here. Sending so much love & strength your way.”

Roisin has loved using her Cricut machine and growing her website business. She says: “it’s really helped to occupy my mind; keeping my mind busy is important. Honestly, it’s made such a difference to my little business.”

We agree that FightyPants‘ empowering products are the perfect pick-me-ups for people affected by cancer or serious illness, or just having a really rubbish time. This bright, bold and brave company has an exciting future, as does Roisin and her family.
