5 gifts to make for your graduate

26 April 2023

May 1 marks National Decision Day for high school seniors and the true kickoff to graduation season. Whether your student is about to finish high school, college, or even preschool, it’s time to start planning for their big day. From decorations to gifts, there’s no shortage of things you can make to celebrate their graduation. Keep reading for 5 gift ideas we have on things to make your graduate.

Graduation shirts

Using Infusible Ink, I transformed this classic t-shirt into a gift that will keep on giving. It’s a shirt my spouse will wear to my son’s middle school graduation this June, and you can bet that he’ll wear it throughout the rest of the year too. It’s not exactly a gift for the graduate, but it sure will celebrate him! Make your own with a Cricut machine, some iron-on or Infusible Ink, a Cricut EasyPress, and any blank t-shirt.

Personalized water bottle

When my older son went off to college last year, I quickly learned that a reusable water bottle would be one of his biggest necessities in the dorm. Personalize a new water bottle, or one you already have, with decals and stickers. Use any Cricut machine to make vinyl decals. For print-then-cut stickers, use a Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore. Print-then-cut stickers are stickers that you can design and print in full (or any) color, and then cut into the shape of your choice with Cricut.

Personalized graduation cap

A fun trend over the years is personalizing a graduation cap to represent what your student has accomplished or what comes next for them. Whether you’re decorating it with paper flowers or showing off what school or job your student is moving on to, the top of a graduation cap is a perfect blank canvas. Gift your graduate a floral cap in their school colors or add a custom phrase, like “I’m Done.” Start by exploring graduation cap ideas in Cricut Design Space.

Scrapbooks

Another great gift to give is a scrapbook to capture the memories and milestones of your graduate. It’s a book we’re sure they’ll appreciate having as a way to look back at important moments throughout the years. Customize the contents of your scrapbook gift by using a Cricut machine to cut shapes, letters, and other ornamental decoration.

Graduation cards

Whether you’re adding it to your gift, or your card is the gift, Cricut machines can make nearly any card you want. Create anything from simple insert cards with Cricut Joy to gift card and money holders and pop-up cards made with Cricut Explore 3 or Cricut Maker 3.
