Personalize your workspace
As we begin again and start our transition back into the workplace, our new normal of making our way into the office may be a bigger adjustment than we anticipate.
As we begin again and start our transition back into the workplace, our new normal of making our way into the office may be a bigger adjustment than we anticipate.
One way to ease the transition and bring a part of you to the white desks and walls we’ll be walking into, is to personalize your workspace.
Frame that picture of your cat and bring it in. Customize your desk accessories so it stands out from the rest (and by this, I mean clearly declaring the stapler is yours from Sally’s).
Get ready for the new normal by walking into any Staples and load up your basket with new stationary supplies that will spark joy. For me, a new journal/notebook and colorful inky pens always do the trick. While you’re there pick up some Smart Vinyl, glue and cardstock to up level your desk, give it a homey-feel, while standing out from the rest.
Below are some projects you can make with the aforementioned items in your basket.

Remember that cardstock you bought? Pop into this ready-to-make project in Design Space and create easy, gorgeous flowers to add a nice touch to your desk.
The best part about this?
These flowers will never wilt, die or smell, thus avoiding those looks from co-workers that are trying to subtly tell you to clean up your gnarly flowers.

Take that Smart Vinyl you just scored from Staples and personalize your notebook to mirror your personality. Whether it be an inspiring quote (yes, I’m that girl) or an image taken from Design Space’s 200,000+ library, you can quickly and easily customize the design, cut, and transfer the image to your notebook. This is a beginner project that everyone can master.
The cool part is that if you tire from that quote or want to focus your energy to geek out over the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series that is on the horizon, peel off that removable vinyl and start again.
It’s simple, efficient and impactful.
When we are getting the hang of a new routine, we might get so caught up in the nuances we encounter, that we lose sight of larger personal objectives we have. If you are a visual person, put your daily affirmations on “paper” so you can see them in your new space. This is a great reminder of the larger picture and can help keep you on track. Use vinyl to cut out your affirmations, adhere them to cardstock and then use the glue to adhere it to a board. Simple and gorgeous.
