How to make a Mother’s Day Insert Card with Cricut
Watch our Cricut Insert Card tutorial and find a written step-by-step below.
1. Open the Insert Card Guided Flow on Design Space and choose your template design

Open Cricut Design Space and select the “Card” option on the home inspiration page. A new window will open up, and within that window you will select “Insert Card,” and then, under the “Select Occasion” header, select “Blank Card.” Doing so will bring you to the design Canvas, with the Templates tab opened up on the left side.

A simple search for “Mother’s Day” in the Templates tab will present you with ample insert card designs to browse until you find the perfect fit for you. The best part is that these template designs are already formatted to fit your insert card, so there’s no guesswork.
2. Customize your design

Once you’ve chosen a template design, your design will appear on the Canvas. From the Canvas, you can select any part of the design to change colors, adjust fonts and sizes, add your own message, and more.
3. Prepare your materials
Before you start cutting and assembling your insert card, you’ll need to gather all the right materials. Here’s what you’ll need:
- A Cricut machine (any model works)
- Cricut Insert card (pre-folded card and insert paper of your choice)
- Cricut Card Mat
- Optional: Cricut pen for any writing or drawing in your design
4. Cut your card

Once you’ve got all your materials, open your Cricut Insert Card pack and pull out a pre-folded card in the color you’d like your card to be. Add the pre-folded card to the Cricut Card Mat that fits your Cricut cutting machine by sliding the back half of the card behind the sticky area of the card mat, then smoothing out the front of the pre-folded card onto the front of the sticky area.

Next, select “Make” in Design Space and load the Card Mat into your machine following the instructions on Design Space and let Cricut machine do the cutting for you.
5. Assemble your card

Unload the Card Mat from your machine and carefully peel the cut insert card off of the sticky part of the mat.
Now that your card is cut, you’re almost done! From here, simply slide your chosen insert paper into the corner slots of your card. If you’d like, you can glue the insert in place; however, doing so is not necessary.

Open your card up and add a personal note, and that’s it—you’ve created a polished Mother’s Day card in minutes, with no complicated assembly!
Creating a personalized DIY Mother’s Day card doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult. With Cricut, you can turn simple Mother’s Day card ideas into something beautifully handmade—fast. Whether you’re making one card or a whole set, the result is the same: something personal that was made with love.
