Meet the Contributing Artist: Maike Lieberth
Maike Lieberth, a passionate artist from Germany, began her creative journey with a gift of lettering pens. Fueled by a love for hand lettering and designing, she discovered Cricut and purchased a Maker 3 to bring her ideas to life. Known for her cute and simple designs, she finds balance and strength in crafting. Maike loves working with paper, especially using Cricut’s QuickSwap tools to emboss and perforate, making each project uniquely hers.
How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program?
I was inspired to start making stickers through my love of hand lettering, which eventually led me to purchase a Maker 3. I spend a lot of time drawing and lettering in Procreate, and as I began sharing projects featuring my own designs on Instagram, I realized I wanted to give others the opportunity to get creative with my work too.
Where did your artistic journey begin?
I received my first set of hand lettering pens as a gift from my best friend in 2018, and that’s when my creative journey truly began.
What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity is my perfect balance to everyday life. It has also become my second job—a role I pursue with absolute passion. It heals me, fuels my strength, and brings me so much joy.
Who or what inspires you to create?
I draw much of my inspiration for my designs from my community. I love thinking about what they might enjoy and often create files specifically for my membership. Each month, we come together on Zoom to work on projects with our Cricut machines—it’s such a rewarding and creative experience!
What is your favorite type of craft, and what project are you most proud of?
I have a passion for creating paper projects, especially cards. One of my proudest accomplishments is the book I wrote about Design Space. From time to time, you’ll also see my designs featured here!
Describe your artistic style in three words and give an explanation
I’m drawn to creating cute, simple designs, especially ones meant for drawing. For instance, I’ve created hand designs that can be drawn onto paper—perfect for adding dried flowers to create a unique and beautiful card.
Favorite Cricut product and why?
I absolutely love the QuickSwap Tool—it’s perfect for flattening, embossing, and perforating, which are ideal for my love of working with paper projects.
Are you a clean or messy person?
I’d say I’m a creative chaos queen!
If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?
If I were a superhero, I’d have the ability to travel anywhere instantly. That way, I could visit all the amazing friends I’ve made through Cricut in no time!
