How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program?

I’ve been a Cricut user for years, and after trying out other marketplaces, I felt let down. My designer friends had great things to say about the Contributing Artist Program, so I took the leap! I feel so lucky to be part of something so inspiring and supportive.

Where did your artistic journey begin?

It’s funny to think back, but my first art class was during my senior year in high school, and I wouldn’t say I liked it. I was too much of a perfectionist to really dive in and create freely. But years later, when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, everything changed. I started making hair bows and then began designing digital bottle cap images. A customer eventually suggested I create SVGs, and even though I had no tutorials to follow, I jumped in with Adobe Illustrator’s free trial. Almost 11 years later, I’ve expanded to hand-lettering fonts and designs, which I enjoy even more than SVG design!

What does creativity mean to you?

To me, creativity is life itself—it’s what makes us all unique and individual. It’s magic, my superpower! Whatever I’m feeling—whether I’m sad, mad, or happy—I create. Life itself is a constant, beautiful act of creation.

Who or what inspires you to create, and why?

A lot of my creativity comes from within and from whatever I’m feeling in the moment. But I’m also inspired by my hobbies, my two daughters, and just life in general. There’s always something around me that sparks a new idea.

What is your favorite type of craft, or what project have you created that you are most proud of?

I love doing acrylic pour paintings and even creating similar styles digitally on my iPad with Procreate. But what I’m most proud of is my hand-lettered fonts. Each font is unique, and I’ve put a lot of love and creativity into coding them so others can use them easily.

Describe your artistic style.

Abstract, colorful, and swirly – As a perfectionist, I find a lot of freedom in abstract art, where perfection isn’t the goal. I love playing with bold colors, swirling them around, and just seeing what emerges. This same philosophy also goes into my fonts and lettering—I want them to be unique and full of personality.

What is your spirit animal?

A frog, definitely! Frogs go through remarkable transformations, and while I’ve never lost a tail, I’ve been through my fair share of changes to get to where I am today.

Do you collect anything?

Yes! I collect vintage and antiquarian books and old postage stamps.

Are you a clean or messy person?

I’m messy, but I call it “organized chaos.” I love things to be dirt-free, but my creative space is always filled with books, stamps, and projects.

Amy’s colorful, abstract designs bring joy and creativity to any project, and her love of unique styles makes her an inspiring presence in the Cricut community. Be sure to check out her favorite images in Design Space!
