Meet the Contributing Artist: Amy Valencia

12 May 2025

Meet Amy Valencia, a passionate creator from Florida whose journey with Cricut has been nothing short of inspiring. Amy’s artistic path began years ago with a love for drawing that blossomed in high school, where she dreamed of pursuing a career in graphic design. Though life initially took her in a different direction—marriage and starting a family—her creative spark never faded. Today, she’s living her dream, blending her love of design with her Cricut expertise.

How did you find Cricut, and why did you join the Contributing Artist Program?

I’ve been using my Cricut machine for years, and my journey with it has been quite an adventure. I originally started by selling shirts on Etsy, but life threw me some challenging, life-altering events that led me to close my shop. That tough chapter inspired a new direction, and I decided to focus on selling my designs instead. Joining the Contributing Artist Program felt like the perfect next step—it offered an amazing opportunity for growth and connected me to a thriving community of creators. Seeing people use my designs in their own projects is incredibly rewarding.

Where did your artistic journey begin?

I’ve always loved to draw, ever since I was young. My artistic journey truly began in high school, over 20 years ago, when I realised I wanted to pursue a career in graphic design. Life, however, had different plans. I got married and started a family instead of going to school. But here I am, years later, living out my dream and doing what I’ve always been passionate about.

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity is all about bringing your ideas to life. It’s taking something as simple as a drawing and transforming it into a meaningful piece of art. With creativity, the possibilities are endless—there are no limits to what you can imagine and create!

Who or what inspires you to create?

My kids inspire me every single day—they are my greatest motivation and the reason I do what I do. Their support and encouragement keep me going, and without them, I honestly don’t know where I’d be.

What is your favorite type of craft, and what project are you most proud of?

My favorite craft, without a doubt, is making cards! I absolutely love it. There’s something so special about creating a homemade card, it’s personal and heartfelt. The best part is seeing the smile on someone’s face when they open it, you just feel so happy.

Describe your artistic style in one word.

My artistic style is simple, cute, and funny. I love creating designs that are easy to use because I want everyone to feel comfortable incorporating them into their projects. While I enjoy making all kinds of designs, funny ones are definitely my favorite! I find so much joy in bringing humor to life, and sometimes the little laughs from my own experiences make their way into my creations.

How would your friends describe you?

They would describe me as an independent woman who is highly motivated to succeed in life.

Motivated daily by her kids, who are her biggest cheerleaders, Amy finds joy in turning ideas into art and sharing that joy with her growing creative community. Whether it’s a cute design, a funny touch, or an inspiring piece, Amy’s creations in Design Space are a true reflection of her personality and passion.
