Celebrate AAPI Month with our CAP artists

9 May 2023

May is AAPI Heritage Month, which is a time of the year that is dedicated to recognizing the influence and achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to our history, culture and achievements in the United States.

As we celebrate AAPI Month, it’s important to recognize the contributions of AAPI artists in various fields. Let’s take a look at some of those artists who are making their mark in Design Space!

Kimberly Altuna

For me, AAPI is important because it initiates a conversation not just about representation and challenges that our community faces, but also highlights cultural experiences, which is crucial for me to impart to my daughter who is being raised in this part of the world.

Jiyeon J.

As a Korean American, AAPI Month holds great significance. It’s a chance to shed light on the struggles and experiences unique to AAPI folks, like facing discrimination and racism. I believe AAPI Month reminds people to fight for equal treatment and appreciate the amazing diversity. We embrace our culture and heritage while pushing for better representation and visibility in society. It’s a time to have fun and appreciate what makes us who we are.

Minson Kim

I love lettering and simple drawing. My AAPI role model is Shinah who taught me Calligraphy. Her unique calligraphy always inspires me in a good way. I also love to create about Christianity, Pilates which is part of my life.
