2020 reflections from the Cricut CEO
Dear Cricut family,
I want to start by saying how grateful we are for you. I hope you and your families are staying well. In reflecting on a year that’s looked so different, one theme still rings true—creativity plays a role in making the world better, especially during hard times. Even the smallest project can lift someone up.
We are reminded of this every day through the things you make. It humbles us that Cricut gets to be part of your toolkit. Whether it’s making face masks (1,973,639 to be exact) for your communities, sending cards to loved ones you haven’t seen in a while, or starting your own craft businesses to give others the joy of personalized gifts, every project you make is meaningful—because YOU made it … and you’re inspiring others they can do it, too.
You’re sharing your projects, tips, and inspiration on new platforms like TikTok. There are more than 1.3 billion views of #cricut TikTok videos today—truly remarkable. We’ve seen amazing stories emerge, like Abbie Chambers who surprised her mom with her first Cricut machine (this truly touched my heart) and have been inspired by creators like Anastasia Jackson, who spends time perfecting beautiful paper flower creations for her business. Every time we see your crafting triumphs, our team celebrates. It’s what motives us to continue searching for even more ways to better support you. Our dream is that anyone can come to Cricut, and find a creative tool that’s perfect for them.
Another step forward in our journey was introducing Cricut Joy—a small but powerful machine designed for convenience and speed. Cricut Joy packs a lot of innovation with Smart Materials, a uniquely designed Card Mat for quick cards, and the Cricut Joy app. We also brought you the Cricut Foil Transfer Tool, expanding the ways you can embellish Cricut Maker and Cricut Explore projects.
While we focus on delighting you, we’re also working hard to make our products more accessible. Cricut is now available in 27 countries across the globe and we’re not stopping! Wherever you are, we want you to be able to find us. In 2021, you will see a lot from us, and we have a lot to do—more investment in Member Care and software improvements, including new features for Design Space and growing our content library. I wish I could show you how much is happening behind the scenes—this is just a mini tour. We will never stop working hard for you because YOU are the reason we love what we do.
Thank you for being part of our Cricut family. We are here for you every step of your creative journey. Take care, and here’s to a happy and healthy 2021!
