Cricut Elf on the Shelf Ideas

by Mallie Lanham | Dec 03, 2013

Elf on a Shelf gives kids a reason to obey and listen if they think Elf might report back to Santa. The best part of the Elf on the Shelf tradition is all the fun Elf gets up to each day. There are some really creative parents out there that get Elf into all kinds of situations… and we thought we’d add some Cricut fun to the mix!

Elf is Decking the Halls for the holidays. Create a couple simple mini Elf-sized Christmas decorations for him.  Elf has a mini holly wreath and a paper chain to give any space a little more Christmas cheer. (From Oleander and Palm)

Elf can help you countdown to Christmas with a tiny classic paper chain. This mini version uses rectangles that are 2 1/2 by 1/2 inch. The rectangles were created Cricut Craftroom and you can let your Cricut do the work, but we’ve also included a link to a printable template as well. Start by making the first loop by attaching the ends together with glue dot, then just continue to add additional loops to make a long chain.

Your Elf needs friends to visit from The North Pole! Create quick and easy crafts that
any Elf can actually sit upon to show off their many reindeer riding skills. (From Purple Lemon Project)

Supplies:

Brown, Red, and black cardstock (if you have red and black markers you can just use them instead of the red and black cardstock)

Cereal box

Glue gun

Glue stick

Cricut Machine or scissors

Instructions

  1. Using the provided template, cut out two reindeer- one from the cereal box and one of the brown card stock.
  2. Take your glue gun and with a thick layer of hot glue, glue both cereal box pieces together but do not press down too much. You need a little gap between both pieces so it can be strong enough to hold the Elf.
  3. With the glue stick, glue the box reindeer and the cardstock reindeer together.
  4. If you are using cardstock with this step- cut out two small circles out of the black cardstock for the eyes and one bigger red circle for the nose. Using the glue stick glue them on the reindeer.  If you are using markers just draw the eyes and nose on.
  5. With the remaining cereal box cut out two strips two and a half inches long by about half an inch wide.
  6. Take your glue gun and glue them to the back of the reindeer and the bottom of the leg for support. (See picture)
  7. Place your Elf of the reindeer you just created and you are all set!

Make your Elf match this season’s favorite foliage. Create an easy poinsettia surround for his or her face to increase the festive nature of his visits! (From Purple Lemon Project)

Supplies:

Adhesive

Red and green paper

Small flower pot

Winter Woodland cartridge

George and Basic Shapes cartridge

Instructions:

1: Use Cricut Craft Room to place the circle in the middle of the poinsettia shape. Cut two 7 inch poinsettias with 2.5 inch circles out of red paper. (Or the provided template.)

2: For the outer leaf, use the same design with the flower cut at 8.5 inches.

3: Arrange and adhere the three layers so that you can see each petal.

4: Place the flower around Elf's head (using clear tape, if needed) and arrange him in the flower pot.

All of these fun projects prove that with or without a Cricut, get crafty with your Elf on the Shelf this year!
