Show us your Cricut Prowess

I love celebrations. Our Cricut® family has grown so much throughout 2009! The Cricut message board is filled with crafts and projects created by so many unbeleivably talented Cricuteers, who share their wonderful ideas and works on a daily basis. Our collection of Cricut Cartridges has also grown this year. Listen up friends! There is a reason to celebrate with Cricut now more than ever.

Now you can participate in the most fabulous design challenge of 2009 with us. From now until December 30, 2009 at 11am MST, you can submit your crafty Cricut projects to "Cropping with the Cricut Stars" for a chance to win a number of wonderful prizes.

Use any cartridge released in 2009 to make any project you want. You can use just one cartridge or more than one, but make sure it's from the qualifying list. You may also use other products on your project like glue, ink, adhesives, paper, fabric, vinyl, etc. See rules and a list of qulaifying cartridges here.

The Grand Prize Winner gets a Provo Craft® hosted crop (for the winner and 10 friends), an opportunity to Crop with the Cricut Stars (Provo Craft Executive Team), and lots of prizes. Hello! I am a SAHM to 9 children--yes, you heard right: nine! The eldest is 22 and the youngest is 15 months. Six boys and three girls. I also have one granddaughter, who is three and melts my heart. I have had my Cricut since 2006, and since I received it could not imagine being without it. I truly enjoy making different creations with it. I just received my Gypsy and love it! Thank you Cricut!

Cartridges Used:

From My Kitchen, Jasmine, Joys of the Season
Instructions:
I started off with a wooden advent calender. I chose this for my daughter, Amanda, who is 16 who wants to be a Chef. This way she could make a new recipe everyday until Christmas. I painted it pink and cut paper to fit inside and the edges. The twenty-four boxes I painted on the inside and edges. I cut the paper out at 1 1/2 thick and wrapped around the boxes.

I then began cutting out the Cricut cuts. All these are cut with From My Kitchen unless specified.

-The apron was cut at 5 1/4 with Shadow
-The title recipe was cut From My Kitchen at 2 1/2
-The gingerbread was cut at 1 with Shadow
-The bowl on the flip was cut at 3
-the rolling pin with shadow cut at 3 1/2
-The spoon was cut at 2 3/4
-The spatula was cut at 1 1/2
-The muffin pan was cut at 1 1/2
-The star was cut from the plate cut on Layers at 2
-The measuring cup was cut at 1 1/2
-The measuring spoons and Shadow were cut at 1 1/2
-The timer was cut at 1
-The oven mitt was cut at 1
-The recipe card was cut at 3/4
-The cookie jar was cut at 1
-The "to" in title was cut from Jasmine at 1 3/4 with Shadow
-The snowflake was cut from Joys of the Season at 1 1/4, -The candy canes, also cut from Joys of the Season, were cut at 1 1/4 and 3/4 for the ones in the pocket

I added glitter glue and some buttons as fillers.

JUST FOR FUN - Resolutions

This week's resolution is from fellow Cricuteer, Joyce. Thanks for sharing your great resolution with us!

"I am 68 years old and came to scrapbooking rather late in life, even though I've been a multi-crafter and seamstress most of my life. My resolution is to scrapbook the 600 photos and family mementoes I have in boxes. As a career military family we've lived all over the world. Thus far I've done 40 pages of my 6 year old grandson and 20 of my 27 year old granddaughter (it will take 2 years to catch her up). So I have a lot of catching up to do. My 2010 resolution: to do a heritage scrapbook, a family scrapbook (300 photos and counting), catch up my grandson and granddaughter. Along the way I'll scrapbook my dolls and the heirloom sewing dresses. I try to do 2-3 pages every day, so wow! I have a busy year planned."

TECH SUPPORT NOOK - Q. I receive a "Cartridge Not Found" or "Cartridge Error" message when inserting a cartridge.

A. First, make sure that the cartridge is fully inserted. Press down until you hear it "click" into place. Then try powering off and on again. This will ensure the cartridge is recognized. Occasionally, the cartridge will not register if directly swapped without the power cycle.
