Souvenirs, Photos, and Memories

Travel is fun! We return with souvenirs, photos, and memories. Many times our souvenirs and photos can spark pleasant "mental re-runs" of adventures from vacations of yesteryear or even last week. Call me silly, but I like to keep certain sentimental items like receipts, ticket stubs, concert programs, venue advertisements, bus schedules, rocks, candy wrappers, a.k.a. (junk) from the various parts of the globe which I have visited and use them in my scrap booking along with my photos. (I'm not alone...you probably do it too!)

Sometimes the smallest things evoke the most vivid recollections. With the new Gypsy, I will be able to start crafting a project whenever or wherever memories or clever ideas come to mind. I want to share these with my family and friends in an organized but entertaining format. My Cricut is a perfect companion for helping me achieve this objective. Crafting just keeps getting easier and easier. The possibilities are limitless.

Happy Cricuting :-)

Name:
Beatriz Jennings
About:
Hi, my name is Beatriz Jennings (Bety). I'm an Interior Designer. I am from Mexico, but I now live in the USA, with my husband and our son. I fell in love with scrapbooking when I was looking through a magazine and saw all of the beautiful things that you can do with paper. Right now I'm in love with card making and altered art. I have been scrapbooking for 3 years and I love to use ribbon, buttons, and flowers on most of my creations. I don't know how to describe my style, but some people say that is a little bit romantic, feminine, and even shabby. Some of my work has been published in magazines like Handmade (formerly Paper Trends), Scrapbook Trends, Cards, Paper Crafts, Scrapbook and Cards Today and Cardmaker magazine to list a few. I have also had projects published in idea books and had tutorials and projects published online on scrapbooking/papercrafting sites and some e zines.

CRICUT BOARD

This week's highlighted threads are:

TIPS TREASURE CHEST - Q. I know this is basic but I am confused. When would I use Shadow or Blackout? What's the difference Do I use both together? Which would be the bottom base?

A. "Shadow" is just a slightly larger version of the shape/letter so if you layered a shadow with a "regular", the shadow would peek out from underneath a bit. "Blackout" fills in any holes in the image and makes it solid - for example, an "o" wouldn't have the center cut out, it would just be a circle.

CARTRIDGE EXPLORATION -

No exploration this week, but Crafty Kimber will be back next time!

TECH SUPPORT NOOK - Q. I get the message "Characters Won't Fit" when I try to cut a 5.5" Shadow/Blackout image or letter.

A. You will need to dial the size down to 5" to accomplish this. Because of the minimum margins required by the Cricut machine, it cannot cut a 5.5" proportionate shadow (as it ends up being more than 5.5").

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world."
