The Fifty-third time's the charm
Holy Moly! Cricut has a revolutionized the way we scrapbook! There are no limitations for your imagination. Creating a darling scrapbook collection of your formal family pictures will help you forget the trauma of the experience of taking the picture in the first place. I like to call it "Cricut Therapy". Some call it "working out the bugs".
We all know it can be a difficult ordeal to get seven people to look good in the same picture without using a photo editing program. Make that seven people of various ages ranging from 10 months to adulthood. Children can be wonderful right up until it is time to clean their room or have the formal family picture taken.
The photographer has been hired, the background is up, the lighting is perfect...then Johnny pinches little Suzy and world war three begins! Someone's hair gets pulled and a "do" is ruined, mommy has to fix someone's curls, baby starts to bawl because one of his siblings is crying, daddy is growing impatient, and the photographer is trying desperately to get everyone's attention for a shot or two, or three...or fifty-three. Finally, the heavens open and a valuable lesson is learned. What is that lesson?
Fifty-three is the magical number of times it takes to get the perfect picture for the much desired family portrait that will hang on the wall and sit on everyone's piano. Every family has a "number fifty-three" moment which they have struggled diligently to acquire. Once it is captured, be sure to scrap that "bugger" for posterity...you've earned it.
Happy Cricuting :-)

| I was in the mood to make a Valentine's card with some layers so I used the Heart from the Wedding Solutions cartridge. I like how it has the intricate layer over the solid heart. I also wanted to have a little gift bag to go with it. As always, I used my Design Studio to do my layout design and also for cutting. And since I was using a few cartridges I got to use my new Jukebox! I cut the heart at 2 1/2" for the card and 2" for the bag. Since I wanted to have some layers I decided to use a couple different images of the word love. I used my favorite one from the Stamped cartridge. I cut it at 3" for the card and 2" for the bag and also using the shadow feature. I made the same cuts on a red decorative paper to use for the heart that is used in place of an ?o?. I then used the word love from the Beyond Birthdays cartridge...a very pretty image of the word. I cut it at 2" and 1 3/8", both of the card. And for the letter "u" I used the Alphalicious cartridge cutting at 2 1/2" for the card and 2" for the bag, both using the short stack and shadow features. Once I made all my cuts, I added my decorative papers to the base of the card, one with some thread and my sewing machine for some decorative stitching. The other papers I used adhesive. Then I just started adding my cut up letters, words and hearts. Did a little embellishing with ribbon, stickles, fluid chalk inks and a black gelly roll pen. |
