Name:
Corey
About:
Hi, I'm Corey. I'm a stay at home mom to a very rambunctious two year old boy, and have been married to my sometimes exasperating, but loving and wonderful husband for six years. I started scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my son, and quickly became addicted to it. My husband gave me my Cricut for my birthday about two years ago and it quickly became my favorite tool. I love scrapbooking so much that I decided to become a Close To My Heart consultant a few months ago. I love sharing my hobby with other people and helping people learn to scrapbook. If you would like to see more of my projects, you can see them on my website. Go to the artwork section, and you will see the album in my gallery. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Corey's Project: Sweet Baby Girl Accordion Album

Cartridges Used:

George and Basic Shapes, Jasmine, New Arrival
Instructions:
I did this project for my sister who is expecting a baby girl in January. I thought she would love an album in these colors because the baby's room is going to be done in pink and brown. I really enjoyed getting to do a girly project. I used the More to Adore paper pack and the 9x9 accordion album from Close To My Heart for this project. I used George to cut the flowers and the Silhouette function to create the top layer of the flowers. I also used George to cut the tags for journaling, and used Jasmine for the photo corners. For the rest of the cuts on the project, I used the New Arrival cartridge. I dry embossed several of the elements of this project with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, and then either sanded them or inked them. I also machine stitched several of the photo mats for added dimension. I really had fun making this little album and love having any opportunity to use the New Arrival cartridge--it's one of my favorites.

This week's highlighted threads are:

TIPS TREASURE CHEST - Q: Will I waste paper trying to get just a few images cut?

A: No. The machine has a paper saving option that cuts letters/shapes/phrases in an arrangement that minimizes the amount of waste from every cut.

CARTRIDGE EXPLORATION - Wild Card

This last weekend my sisters, mom, and myself got together to scrapbook and play with the Cricut. I usually don't create scrapbook pages. I got my Cricut to make cards and use for other projects. This was one of the best weekends that I've had in a long time. We went to a friend's cabin and spent two days scrapbooking all day and night. It was here that I was able to continue exploring the new cartridges that I have acquired for my collection. I fell in love with Storybook cartridge and used this font to create titles for my Grandma's old fashioned tea party photos. I used Graphically Speaking to create quotes and phrases to add to my fourth of July photos. I discovered the joy of the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge as my sisters made paperdolls for their Halloween photos. I had forgotten how many wonder things you could do with all the different cartridges.

In this exploration I will focus on the new cartridge, Wild Card, and share bits and pieces of what is in this cartridge. Everyone at the scrapbook party checked this cartridge out and fell in love with it. Almost everyone of them exclaimed that they wanted to purchase this cartridge. This cartridge is all about creating cards and envelopes. There are some adorable images that are to hard to describe. You can't get a very good feel for this cartridge just looking at the back of the cartridge box.

The creative features that come with this cartridge are: Frame, Phrase, Icon, Liner, Blackout, and Alphabet. Some examples of images that are in this cartridge are: argyle, scallop, booklet, leaf, and wave. Each of these images will have the topic designed in the card and the envelopment. There is even a cupcake, baby pin, a present, and wedding style card and envelope (see pic).

The creative features--Frames are: rectangle, square, Fleur De Lis, square, triangle, flower rectangle, leaf, tweedy on a branch, buttons, ovals, phone cord, and rocket ship. A lot of the frames have an image placed on top of the frame to help give it a different look. This feature is great for finding a way to accent a photo on your scrapbook page. The blackout feature give you the ability to cut a different card or envelope as a sold items, so you now have a way to add accents to each of your envelopes or cards. The other feature that I love in this cartridge is the Alphabet feature. Just think now you get one cartridge with images, cards, envelopes and a font all on one cartridge. Yes I am stating the obvious, this features give you upper and lower case letters, symbols and numbers.

Check ou the Wild Card cartridge and have fun making cards!
