Hello -

I currently do not have any digital cartridges but am considering purchasing a couple of them, before I do I would like the opinion of some tenured Cricut users. Do you like the digital cartridges, anything you don't like about them?

Thanks!

I have purchased 8 digital cartridges but only because I got them for $9.99 each at a cricut sale earlier this month and most are retired now and super expensive on ebay or if you can find them in the stores.

Likes:
1) price was very cheap
2) actual carts retired but I was able to get it in digital form
3) able to use them instantly no waiting on shipment
4) no shipping costs
5) saves space--don't need to store on shelf like I do my physical carts

dislikes:
1) no physical book
2) no physical cartridge
3) can't use if internet or your computer is down is down
4) fear of CCR going bye bye and never being able to use the digital versions again.
5) no way to save digital carts to CD or your computer to prevent loss (if CCR does go byebye)
6) no reward points for digital carts (at least I didn't get any for the 8 I bought recently)
7) don't like how some digital versions are more expensive than physical carts
8) can't loan a cart to a friend if she wants an image

I think those are all my likes and dislikes.

Joyce

Great analysis, Joyce and very helpful.

I am new to Cricut and will be purchasing my mini later today. Question on the digital cartridges: Is the information stored on a Cricut data base, so that if my computer hard drive fails or I change computers, will I still be able to access my digital images?

Thanks in advance!Flapper

Yes! Everything is stored on the Cricut.com website.

You can use "Cricut Craft Room" a FREE online design program for the Cricut.

If you purchase digital cartridges, the cartridges would be stored there for you to use them.

The mini has to be used with Cricut Craft Room.

Thank you so much for your quick reply, Auntie KLE. Much appreciated!

I headed out to my local Walmart yesterday to pick up my mini. They don't sell Cricut machines there anymore!

Today, I'll check with two other local Walmarts. Or I can order the mini through Walmart On-line (for $99.00).

Wish me luck - I'm anxious to get started and get back into Scrapbooking!

Almost all Wal-marts have stopped selling Cricut stuff. But they still sell it online. They even have a pretty good deal online on cartridges that are 2 for $50.

If you like scrapbooking you may want to check out the 2 newest cartridges that are just for scrapbooks. They have pages for layouts.

There are 2 new cartridges for making cards.

Simple cards and Creative cards.

There are lots of cartridges to choose from so whatever your interests I'm sure you will find some you will have to have.

If you have any questions just ask on the MB and someone will help. You can also post your creations here too.

Thanks so much. I finally ended up getting my Mini at Michaels here in Lady Lake Florida. They only had one in stock, so I grabbed it (knowing that Walmart no longer carried Cricut inventory.)

Set it all up this afternoon and everything is working just great. Excited to get started on some scrapbook pages.

Thanks for the links!
