I have noticed that my gypsy screen backlight seems to not be steady but fluctuates in the light intensity just a little. Is this normal, or should I be looking into a backup gypsy? My gypsy is not used excessively, but she is past her warranty. Please advise.

I just saw this post. I asked my resident genius aka Hubby and he said we are supposed to get 120 voltz electricity but it flucuates with over or under usage. So maybe that is the problem.

My gypsy screen flickers in intensity until I am past the screen that allows you to choose from "new, open, etc." with or without the AC adapter. I have a full charge. I am just not sure if it always did this or not.
It does not flicker when I am past that screen, so I am hoping that is a good sign?? I would hate to lose my gypsy. She is such a good little worker! lol

Mine has never flickered, it sounds as if it has a problem. Call PC and see if it is a serious thing?

I have the exact same problem with my Gypsy. It started the first time I powered her on. It concerned my fiance more than me at the time (probably because I was so psyched to finally have a Gypsy and was not willing to part with it!) It has never resolved, not through updates or anything else. It really is annoying, but as others have mentioned, it stops flickering after I pass the menu screen... Never got around to contacting PC... I might look into it though. My Gypsy may be considered under-used... can that really be the issue?

I have only seen this happen with my Gypsy when I had it plugged into AC while cutting. When I unplugged it, it stopped, so I think it was either overcharged or getting power fluctuations.
I've had it for almost two years now and while I do have a backup, I haven't needed it yet. It's probably nothing to worry about, but you could call support.
