I had to use my old laptop (windows XP) to update my E2 because Sync wouldn't work on the laptop with Windows 7.
I can use CRR with the Windows XP laptop but not the Windows 7 one!!!!
E2 works fine as a stand alone so it is not the machine.

When I try to cut using CCR, I get this message when it gets to the select device screen. "No usable devices available. Make sure you are connected and the power is on"
I turned it on and off a few times but still nothing.

I have done the exceptions in both my Windows firewall and avast.
I tried installing the drivers from CCR but not sure if they installed. Didn't take very long compared to when they installed on XP computer when I downloaded CCR.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!!!!

It sounds like the drivers have not been successfully installed. If you can't get past this point, give support a call. They can troubleshoot over the phone with you. CCR will work with Windows 7.

When was the last time you updated your E2? I got the same message, called support and they walked me through updating the sync, then updating my E2 and my Gypsy. It still didn't work so I had to uninstall the sync and re-install the sync. It was a mess but it all works fine now. Good luck. If you have any other problems, call cricut support. They are very knowledgable and know what they're doing. Good thing, too, cuz I sure didn't!

My laptop has Windows 7 & my CCR, Imagine & Expression all work great with mine. Have you checked your anti-virus to make sure you have the CCR as an authorized program? Have you tried to contact CS about your issues?

I just updated my E2.

Firmware 0081
Content 0040

Adobe Air is 3.70.1530

Sync is 2.1.25

I think I am going to uninstall and reinstall both CCR and Sync on my Windows 7 computer and see if that does anything.
If not, then I will call PC on Monday when I will have lots of time. I have tried before but gave up after being on hold way too longBlushing

I have turned off the anti-virus and it still doesn't work.

Try uninstalling & re-installing the drivers. I had to do that once to make my Imagine work. If that doesn't work call CS & they should be able to help you.

It looks like I have only 1 driver installed. I am assuming it is for my E. This is the driver listed.
Cricut(TM)Driver V2.01

Don't know how to update other than thru CCR and that doesn't work.

I still haven't had a chance to call Pc but I think I have at least isolated the problem.BigGrin

I followed someones advice on checking drivers for both my E and my E2. I have both machines plugged into one hub which then goes to my laptop.
I went into My Computer and having the E turned on, I found drivers installed. I went ahead and did the update and it says I have the latest update.Smile
So I did the same thing with my E2. Well there is the yellow exclamation point sign next to the driver.Sad That usually means nothing was installed. I went ahead and tried the update but it came back as no drivers available.

I would say that I need to install the driver in order for my E2 to work with CCR on my Windosw 7 laptop.
(It works with windows Xp on an older laptop)

I tried installing the driver via CCR but it doesn't install.

So does anyone know how to get the correct driver installed before I have to call PC?
I hate being put on hold foreverSad

thanks

Hello- you can only have one machine plugged into the computer at one time. This may be what is causing your issues. Two machines plugged in at once will interfere with each other. I hope this helps.

Fix:
Go to the Devices and Printers menu.
Right Click on the Gadget device,

click hardware tab
select the device
click properties
click on driver tab
click update driver
click browse my computer for driver software
choose C:\Program Files (x86)\Cricut-Craft Room\Drivers\Expression2

run CricutSync to update the firmware
