Has the gypsy been discontinued? I noticed that it is out of stock online, and to get one on ebay or amazon they are wicked expensive! I would really like to get one, but don't know how to go about doing so. Please help!

If you've never owned a gypsy I would suggest that you learn to use Cricut Craft Room. The future of the gypsy is pretty unclear and I would not suggest getting started with one now.

There are people who have had gypsies that have broken and they buy a new one and send it to Cricut so that they can continue to use their already registered carts. I believe that most are having to pay very high amounts on ebay, etc. to find a gypsy.

I agree, I would not buy a Gypsy at this point. I believe they are being discontinued. I am in a bind with mine, the part of the USB cord that goes into the Gypsy came loose and I had to call Provo Craft to see what to do. The Gypsy according to them could not be repaired, only replaced by purchasing a new one then sending the old one into them to have the cartridges put on the new one.

I found a local computer repair person who opened it up and repaired the part, but now I'm worried about trying to update it because I'm afraid I will be out of luck if it doesn't work.

My views of the gypsy are different than the ones here.

I LOVE my Gypsy. I would not give it up for anything. All my roughly 400 cartridges are on mine. If you want to be able to carry every cartridge you have, everywhere you go, the Gypsy is the device to have. There is no other Cricut device that will allow you to do this, at this time without an internet connection.

CCR is a good idea, in some ways, but when you are traveling, at crops or someone's home who doesn't have internet, CCR is of no value.

You can find on ebay, craigslist and many other places. Don't rush into a buy, look around at your local craft stores (on and offline). If they are being discontinued (which it appears they are) stores will be looking to get rid of their stock.

I have to agree, I love my gyspy and it is a must have when I go to weekend crops! Rather frustrating lately, I got a new cart and cannot load it because it needs to be updated and it won't update for me and support is open while I'm at work. Hate when that happens.

Love my Gypsy, too. I live (and play) in a rural area where internet access is not always possible so CCR is not a great option for me. Also, my craft room is in the opposite area of my home from the computer room so I still have to download it all to Gypsy if I want to cut from CCR. This knocks you completely out of free access carts offered on CCR as well. Honestly, I rarely used my Expression before I got a Gypsy. My use since has increased dramatically.

I have one that is brand new, unopened one that I got for my mom and then she went out and got one on her own. If you would like to buy it then email me. I love mine and I haven't done any projects on my Cricut without it for years. My email is diacoffey@aol.com

I sure love my Gypsy!!! I have most of my cartridges linked on it. I love creating on it via long road trips and when I have down time and my computer isn't available. I am finding now, though, I am having trouble linking it with my Cricut Design Space and Craft Room. It wont update completely, either. Has anyone had this issue?
