Like the Short and Sweet swaps, these swaps will be only one item. Since they are larger items, there will be two months to complete. Same rules apply as in all my swaps....you can check out my rules thread if you haven't joined my swaps before.

What: Create an altered configuration box or tray, printers tray, etc. to suit your partner's tastes. These can be suited to any style.

If you already have something that will work in your stash, great go ahead and use it. Otherwise look for deals or coupons. Tim Holtz, 7 gypsies, and some other companies (I know Michael's had some) have different types. Also you could checkout thrift stores and garage sales. You can even make a wooden drawer organizer into one.

***If cost is an issue and you would really like to participate - pm me, I have a couple of extra ones in my stash.

Time Frame: 4/15 -7/13 (mail date) If you need extra time to complete the swap, just coordinate a new date with your partner that is mutually agreeable. I only ask that you inform me of the new date so I can keep track.
(I did change the date from 6/15 - 7/13 to allow for more time).

General: Getting to know your partner will help with these larger projects so you know more about their tastes and preferences.

MAIL DATE GRACE: MAIL BEWTEEN 7/14 - 7/20 WITHOUT HAVING TO CONTACT ME; PM ME IF YOU NEED LONGER

Questions to answer when you sign up:

1. Style preference?
2. Color scheme preference?
3. Is there anything else you would like your partner to know? (Likes, dislikes)

Inspiration: (Just a few there are tons out there on youtube (including tutorials), blogs, websites (Tim Holtz, 7 Gypsies, etc).

you can add me in too

Questions to answer when you sign up:

1. Style preference? No preference other then I just want it do be a display of art to enjoy looking at and I can see a mixture of styles evolving from this project too.

2. Color scheme preference? whatever color scheme goes best with the style my partner chooses to work with

3. Is there anything else you would like your partner to know? (Likes, dislikes) I just am not real keen on color combos where half the color is black. I like pink, but not pink/black combo at all. I like red, but not red/black combo so much (although I love ladybugs). I like grunge, but I like a pop of color included, not just all brown.

I would rather just leave this all up to my partner as this is a new project venture for most of us and I just want her to go with what makes it fun for her or is easiest for her to choose embellies for this project.

I will be spying on this thread, love these.
Made one with all the tiny treasures I found in my Dad's junk room after he passed away. I cannot part with this obviously. Not enough leftovers to make another one.
I'll be very excited to see what you ladies create!
Have fun!

One thing to keep in mind is that you don't have to go buy a ton of items to put in these things. Use or alter things that you have in your stash to fit your theme. I did that with the one I made for the Tim Holtz contest. I painted a lot of items white and purple (even metal - with a coat of gesso first) so that it would all tie in for the look I was going for.

If you are using the ones with the removable boxes, I have seen a few on youtube where they took out a few of the boxes and made it more open. Also I have seen where they have taken out the box and turned it around so they had some flat surface on the front. Just ideas.

I had some questions on the tray - it can be anything with sections or you can alter a tray to make it appear as though it has sections. I had this wooden jewelry oraganizer that had little wooden trays with sections that fit on a larger section that I used to hold all my timmy stuff until the lid broke. The two sections on top would work perfect for the one like LeaAnn had posted that she made into a box that opened up. Trash to treasure. Be creative, you don't have to spend a lot of money to do this swap. HOWEVER, please do a good job and use good materials so that it looks good.

I do want to talk a little about adhesive - This I will be a little bit of a stickler on. We don't want your beautiful creations to fall apart after you put all the hard work into it. Using the right adhesive for the items you are using will go a long way.....

E6000 works best on metal. It has a long set time, so I use a couple of dabs of hot glue to hold in place while the E6000 sets.

Glossy Accents works well on heavy objects along with the E600.

Multi Medium Matte, Glue and Seal, etc works well with applying paper and sealing. They also have a short set time. You can use modge podge as well, but my preference are the others. It has a longer set time.

Yes Paste works well for applying paper as well. Don't know that it actually seals - has a long set time.

Beacon's 3 in 1 and FabricTac work really well with lighter weight objects and paper adhesion.

Score tape and the red tape are both very strong.

Tape runners are good as long as you are using good quality tape.

Hot glue is good for some things and I do use it, but not on metal unless it is to hold something in place while the E6000 is drying.

Feel free to use what ever brand of adhesive you have on hand as long as you know that it works well.

Partners will change every swap. I will take partner requests during these rounds - please let me know a few names of who you would like to be paired with. If you and another person really want to be partners - please let me know so I can accommodate that.

Thanks,

Something you could keep in mind is I am allowing partners (if they can agree on a date) take more time if needed. BigGrin

E6000 tip - Before you replace the cap after using, smear vaseline on/around the opening or you may never get the cap off again...

Hey! Thanks for that tip cuz I was wondering why I was buying the stuff and using it once and then about killing myself to try and figure out how to get the cap off to ever use it again.... Needless to say, I tend to ignore it on my desk cuz I didn't want to deal with the hassle of opening that cap again!

It will be good. I am trying to choose new/different things. The nice thing is you'll have plenty of time and we'll get everyone partnered with someone they are comfortable with creating for.

1. Style preference? Vintage patriotic (that's one theme, not two)
2. Color scheme preference? R/W/B, brown, black as a highlight if need be
3. Is there anything else you would like your partner to know? (Likes, dislikes) Just please stick with the above requests; it's going to go in a specific room

*Google images for vintage patriotic and you'll know what I meanSmile

I would talk size with your partner. I have no problem with one partner make a 12 inch one and the other making a 10 inch one - but I don't think it would be fair for one partner to make 12 inch and the other make a 4 x 6 one. As long as it is fair, I really don't have a preference. If you both want to make smallish ones, that is ok. Bigger is fine too. Or one wanted to make a smaller more detailed one and the other a plainer larger one.

Sharon, I would have to think about that. I could maybe if we have a odd number do a three way where person a gives to b, b gives to c, and c gives to a. Plus who doesn't love you?

K
