I tried turning on my Gypsy today but all I got was a blue light...no welcome screen with words. I decided to let the battery run out and then charge without turning it on. It was charged for about 4 hours and the same thing happened again when I turned it back on...only blue light :( I have no clue how to fix this problem and sent a message to PC but they won't be open again until Tuesday (Monday is a holiday).
I need my Gypsy before February 18th and I am not sure if sending to PC will it get back to me in time.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Jenn

Have you tried resetting your G. To do this, take the top off your stylus and you will find a pin-like prong - insert the prong in the tiny hole in the back of the G. Hope this helps.

Hi Jenn,
My Gypsy is doing the same thing. Were you able to get in touch with PC?

It is called"the black screen-blue light of death". Mine got it and there was nothing to do but send it in for a replacement--took about 2 weeks. Then you will have to reload all your carts. Sorry to have to bring you the bad news.

I'm so very upset, I had the same thing happen to my my Gypsy, I was freaking out. I called PC found out my Gypsy was just over warranty, I had to buy a new one, which should be here tomorrow, next I have to send both the bad one and the new one to PC, once they get them they will reserialize the new Gypsy and then send it back. Unfortunately it won't be till the end of March or longer to have it done. Once I get it back I will have to Sync it and then reload every one of my cartridges back onto it. It's just frustrating, I didn't realize that there were others dealing with this same issue. I am looking forward to using my new one sometime in April, I guess. Boo Hoo, I just want to cry. So Sad, Denise

I had the same problem, because soon after I bought it we built a house and I did not use it for a almost a year. The screen supposedly locked up and I had to replace it. I think there needs to be a recall because this is crazy and from what I see this is a serious problem, although they did send me another refurbished one even though mine was out of warranty. I don't believe this should be an issue.

WOW!!! I'm having the same issue. Was there any luck with letting the run down the battery? I've tried the reset button and it didn't work! I don't know how long I've had it. WHY would this happen if it hasn't been used in a while??? All my carts are on it. If anyone could let me know if running the battery down worked. Thanks again, Calibug

Well it looks like my Gypsy has the blue light disease. The light comes on but the screen is dark. I called PC customer service and was told to hold down the left top button, the round button and the power button all at the same time. That didn't work so she told me to reboot my Gypsy and try the same series over again. I did that for 6-7 times each time rebooting my Gypsy and nothing happened. So bascially I'm out of a Gypsy because the warranty has run out and PC doesn't do repairs. The customer service representive was nice enough to recommend I start using the Cricut Craft Room but if I want to "design on the go" I'll have to purchase a new Gypsy and send both machines to PC so they can reserialize the new one. So, I guess I'm off to eBay to see if I can find one at a reasonable price.
