Are you using Windows 8? If so, you need to run CCR in compatibility mode as Windows 7. There are three programs you need to do this to. They are CCRBridge.exe, CricutSync.exe, and DriverUpdater.exe. You also need to run them as Administrator.
If you don't see all three of the files mentioned above you will need to re-download from the website. I also had to temporarily turn off my firewall and my virus protection to get the files to download correctly.
Run Files in Compatibility Mode as Windows 7
Go to your main drive (usually c:)
Open the Cricut Sync folder
Right click on CCRBridge.exe
Select Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Under Compatibility Mode put a check mark in the box
Select Windows 7 from the drop down
Go to the bottom where it says Privilege Level
Check the box for Run as Administrator
I also selected the Change Settings for All Users box, but you don't have to do this
Repeat the above steps for CricutSync.exe
Repeat the above steps for DriverUpdater.exe
If you are NOT on Windows 8, try just setting the Files to Run as Administrator
Set Files to Run as Administrator
Go to your main drive (usually c:)
Open the Cricut Sync folder
Right click on CCRBridge.exe
Select Run as Administrator
Repeat the process with CricutSync.exe
Repeat the process with DriverUpdater.exe
I got the process from a support person. No one ever thinks to ask what operating system you're using and Cricut Craft Room WILL NOT WORK with Windows 8 unless you do this process.
Mine works perfectly now.
Hope this helps.
