If your gypsy dies , is there anyway you can link the cartridges to my sisters gypsy. I don't think I will get another one.

You cannot. A cartridge can be linked to only one Gypsy (or CCR account). The only exception is if you buy a replacement Gypsy and send both back to PC for reserialization of the new one.
