poor customer service - poor product
bought this as a gift for my daughter in law - first time she tried to use it the blue light came on but no screen - sound familiar? had to call customer service six different times to finally get a return label to send it in - luckily it is under warranty - after readying all these reviews I wonder how long it will last before it does this again if I ever get back a new one from PC

Do not waste your money!
I bought this when it was new...loaded all my cartridges on, put it aside and tried to use it several months later...nothing happened. I have contacted customer service...no luck there either. One big hole in my pocket. Great concept, lousy product and even worse support. This has really soured my attitude towards Cricut! To top it off, the new cutting mats have no longevity. I am done spending money on Cricut...thousands later!

Ok, while it works
I bought my Gypsy at Michaels and it was ok. I used it a lot and it was great to be able to weld letters and shpaes and modify images. The software was a bit slow and cumbersome but was worth it because I could carry all my cartridges in one small item to crops and design on the go. Then it stopped working. PC tech support helped me reset and it worked for awhile longer. Then it just died. PC told me I'd have to buy and new one! Not only that but since all my cartridges (and I own a lot) were linked to it, I'd have to mail my new and old one to them for them to reprogram and in 6 weeks or so I'd get the new one back and could then re-link all my cartridges!! Are you kidding!!? I would then have over $500 invested in Gypsy alone!!! incidentally I have several friends who also bought the Gypsy and theirs have all died too except for one person. So save your money and use the Craft Room even if it is a bit cumbersome!!

Disappointed! No longer a way to save files to PC
I was so excited to get my gypsy. I really do like the gypsy itself, but I have had it for over a month now and I am still unable to be able to back up or save any of my gypsy files to my PC, nor can I transfer any file to a PC to be able to work with them in craft room. (I called before I bought this to make sure it could be done. This was the whole reason I bought the gypsy in the first place). I have notified the tech dept weekly about this issue, and they say that they are aware of this problem, it is a cricut sync problem and they are aware of it and will eventually fix it that it is on a back burner for now as they have other things to repair first. What the heck... this issue is over a month and it still has not been fixed. So, I really dont even use my new gypsy at all after spending all this money on it. Why would I spend all that time designing something on it and not be able to back it up to my computer??? The tech dept. should have had this problem fixed within days, but they dont seem to even be addressing it at all. So if you dont care about backing up your gypsy files to a PC, then youll love the gypsy. But if you want to back up your work then I would say to wait before purchasing because the tech dept. may NEVER fix the problem and your gypsy will sit in the box like mine.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT AND SERVICE
It would be great if this thing can actually work as they said it should. First, the gypsies, I was told, can not sync the linked cartridges to the Craft room. (Yes, they are all under the same account.) They famous line "they are working on it". Second, I was told that all the designed (welded) cuts from CCR and transfered to gyps can not be cut with Imagine. I was told differently before that. I wouldn't be able to even confirm that since I can not even sync any of my cartridges. Third, they said I can not return it since I opened it. It is in contradiction to the policy written on line. Fourth, I've been waiting since 12:50 for a supervisor since I have been getting conflicting information. Fifth, I really do not have time to wait and get service during the weekdays since I work. Sixth, they are closed during the hours people really want to work on their craft, ie nights and weekends. Seventh, I tried emails but all their emails are generic with a response with please call.
I can go on and on. ..... Lastly, it is now 1:10, it is now 15 minutes wait and still waiting..... DO NOT GET SWINDLED IN BUYING ANY OF THE PRODUCTS!!!!!!

portability
So far I really enjoy the Gypsy and am using it. I had some trouble getting it started and loading some of the updates, but I have to admit it was errors on my part. This kit comes with so many goodies and is such a great deal. I really like that I can take all of my cartridges with me and use any machine I want once I get there.

Waste of money
I ordered a Gypsy bundle from QVC. There are no directions. I can turn it on and pull up 3 screens, but cannot do anything with it. I have no idea what to do with it or how to use it. What a waste of money!!!

Love my Gypsy
I have had my Gyspy for 2 years, never had any problems. I did have to go online and print out the user manual to figure out how to use it, doesn't come with one. I like not having to dig through my cartridges to find one I want to use, just search and cut! love it!

Gypsy
My Gypsy is a couple of years old.
I loved it when I first got it and I still like it but now I'm starting to have trouble with it. I'm having a hard time getting it to charge. Plus when I hook it up to my E2 it won't connect. I thought that maybe if updated both machines and I still get the same message. Called customer service their responce was UPDATE. DUH!!! For the money I paid I expect it to last longer than this. I won't replace it. A friend of mine has to almost keep her Gypsy plugged in to use it. Doesn't hold the charge. No wonder Michaels craft store doesn't carry it anymore.

Love it!
I have had the gypsy since it first came out. This is a wonderful little machine that I would be lost without. Hopefully, they will keep making them for all of us that enjoy it. I had great support when I called with an issue while doing a gypsy update. The gypsy is a keeper in my craft room!

I rec'd my gypsy about 3 years ago for Christmas and I LOVED it! I brought it everywhere, used it all the time and couldn't say enough great things about it. However, like others, I let it sit for awhile and now have the "black screen of death". I haven't tried to restart it but I am not to optimistic given all the reviews I've read lately. Too bad. Great concept, poor long-term thought.

Works great for me
So in the beginning I was having some issues with loading the upgrades onto the Gypsy, but once I sat there and watched it run the upgrades I found out the problem was that my PC was going into sleep mode before the Gypsy could get the update completed. Since then I have had NO issues and love that I can take this with me wherever and use it. I also love that I can see where the image is going to cut on the mat which saves so much paper. It did take some time to learn the device, but I don't mind experimenting from time to time.

Love it!!
I have had my Gypsy for years and now can't live without it! There is a learning curve, just like the machines, but once you start to use it and are able to put designs from several cartridges on the same design - it's love! I can't imagine anyone not loving it.

I've had my Gypsy for several years and have all of my cartridges loaded on it. I prefer working on it over Cricut Craft Room as I can design in the car (hubby is driving), on the train, and on a plane. It is fantastic!

Replace Gypsy
I loved my Gypsy. The top port broke, not in warranty. Can't get a new one. No help from support. They told me to use Craft Room. Great, if I could get a really long extension cord to my desktop the family uses!So disappointed they aren't making more--or helping those of us who trusted in their products.

READ ALL REVIEWS FIRST
I don't really think it matters now - everywhere you look to buy they are out of stock or sold out. This is a rip off. My machine worked perfectly - because I didn't use it for a while so now I have a black screen. Looks like I am not the only one. Was told no warranty and that I would need to buy a new one. Money down the drain! From that phone conversation I have not purchased another Cricut item and will not. Do not buy!!!

Gypsy Review - don't waste money - screen dies
I really liked my gypsy. I use my cricut only with it. Went to charge and pack it for my big scrapbook weekend and the screen won't come on. Reviews and many users on the internet later, tell me this happens ALL the time. Been a year, so Cricut won't do anything. Won't let me pay to fix it. All I can do is waste more money to buy a new one, that the same thing will happen to. Beware, do NOT waste your money. You will be frustrated when the screen goes black!

My Very Loved Gypsy
I just ordered my 2nd Gypsy, I can't live without it! My only issue is that they are never in stock? No one at Provo craft can explain why? If they are working on some improvements that's great, and I have no problem with that, but when no one can explain it's frustrating. I spend a lot of money on cartridges, I think I deserve some kind of explanation. Other than that, I'm very happy with Provo Craft. The girls at Customer Service are amazing!

Gypsy
I am so disappointed that the company that created the Gypsy has not been able to make it work with Craft Room nor fix its ability to update without crashing. For over a year now (since late 2011) I have wanted to purchase one for my teenage grand-daughter so she too can experience the convenience and fun of sharing her circuit and a gypsy with friends without the need of a computer, but it has not happened. In addition, Those of us who are still lucky enough to have our Gypsys' still working with all of our cartridges loaded 'will not' take the chance to update it for FEAR it will crash and all of our great flexibility will go away! Craft Room is a nice addition, but still many of us do not have the best of Internet connections and when we try and use it, and especially if you need multi-cut, your Cricut slows and sputters and it takes FOREVER to get a multi-cut design cut, and FORGET about trying to cut a design that takes more than one cartridge to complete if you don't have your cartridges linked to Craft Room- that's enough to hang up your Cricut and go buy a different machine that doesn't have all these problems. So, Provocraft, PLEASE take care of your customers who have supported you for over 5 years now AND FIX THE GYPSY AND CRAFT ROOM for your Loyal Customers - YOU OWE IT TO US. HOPE YOU'RE LISTENING. . .

Very dissappointed
Bought my Gypsy 2 years ago and the other day it broke, the port that connects it to the cricut and the computer has fallen into the machine, when I contacted customer service they explained I had to buy a new one, which it seems they no longer make, then I'd have to send both away to have my cartridges put on the new machine. :( I basically have devalued the cartridges in my collection by putting them on this piece of junk, from reading the review there are tons of problems with this machine. Very very dissappointed.

Love my Gypsy
I love my Gypsy! I'm hoping if enough people share their love of the Gypsy, Provo Craft will again make these available for purchase. I love being able to be anywhere and still be able to design.

Love it!
I've had my Gypsy for 2 years now and I haven't had any issues or problems with it. On a couple of occasions I had issues with updates, but that was because of my computer's antivirus software. Once I switched that off for the update it was quick and easy. I love the portability and I hope Provo Craft do not discontinue it. I don't like Cricut Craft Room, please keep the Gypsy and just keep improving a great product idea.

I can't imagine life with out the Gypsy!
I love my Gypsy. I use it for everything in crafting cards and Scrapbook pages. The layering ability to see through each layer and make sure one fits into another is awesome. I've read all the bad reviews and just hate it for those people. I wish they had the great experience I've had. I've had my Gypsy since they first came out and I love it. Not sure what to do if it ever goes bad on me! I would buy another if they still made them.
